While working out for soccer, I was experiencing severe chest pain and leg numbness and went to the ER where I was first diagnosed with pneumonia and sent home with painkillers and antibiotics. The chest pain subsided a bit but through that next week my leg pain worsened and my leg was extremely swollen and red. I immediately went to the ER again and was diagnosed with a blood clot in my leg (deep vein thrombosis) after an ultrasound and in my lungs (pulmonary embolism) after a CT scan and was immediately admitted. I was extremely scared as I didn’t know what any of this meant at the time but the doctors and nurses around me made sure I was comfortable. Throughout my four day hospital stay I had various nurses care for me and keep me updated and calm. I was treated with blood thinners through an IV and then had a procedure done by Dr. Nasiri to remove the clot in my leg. He was very kind and intelligent and I am very glad he was the surgeon to do this procedure. The follow up care by him was excellent as he was very genuine and diligent. I followed up with a hematologist as needed and got an MRV to determine whether I needed a stent in my pelvic vein or not; I did and Dr. Nasiri was there to do that procedure as well. He continued to follow up with me and make sure all is well. Overall, I am very satisfied and happy with the care given to me.
